Brazil will implement mandatory quality certification for household and similar electrical appliances
According to Brazil's industrial quality, standards and Metrology (INMETRO) Decree No. 371 issued on 2009-12-31, from July 1, 2011, the mandatory quality certification will be implemented for 87 kinds of domestic or imported household appliances and related products (including electrical products for industrial use ) before sale on the market. Act specifies, from 2011-07-01 onwards, household electrical appliance enterprises or importers will be prohibited to produce or import non-adoption of quality certification of products; since 2012-07-01, to prohibit household electrical appliance enterprises and importers sell to wholesalers or retailers those products; from 2013-01-01 onwards, to prohibit wholesale or retail businesses to sale household electrical appliances did not pass quality certification of products.
Products involved include: vacuum cleaners, electric irons, electric ovens, hair shaving utensils, baking machines, sewing machines, chargers, electric blanket, electronic watches, massager, hair dryer, household mower, projectors, water pumps, drying machines, air filters, water heaters, pest control device, pressing machines, electric grills, induction cooker, electric toothbrush and so on.
